A Sweet New Year Always Welcomes More Sweet Apple Recipes

I could try and convince you to make something exotic for Rosh Hashanah. I could suggest that other fruits, aside from apples, might be nice for a change or combine apples with spelt, or Turkish delight. But the truth of the matter is, by the time the Jewish New Year rolls around, all most of my baking friends want is tradition, with some fresher choices, and tons of apple recipes that are might be varied but not outlandish. Honey Apple Cake
Spice and ginger ale, plus marmalade makes a great, moist honey cake. A garnish of apples echoes the honey and apples theme in a visual way.

Apple Cinnamon and Vanilla Crostata
A rich pastry crust lines a cheesecake pan which is then filled with mounds of apple slices, kissed with pure vanilla and fresh lemon juice. Strips of pastry, cut in odd shapes with a serrated pastry wheel create the unusual top crust. Any way you patch together the pastry over the fruit will yield a beautiful finished crostata. The cheesecake pan helps whip the crostata, otherwise a free-form pastry, into shape for fine dining.
